Mickey Mouse or “Old Pool” dates back to 1972, and we understand it to be the oldest commercial lake in the UK. Its certainly the most beautiful pool in the country.
Well stocked with carp to late doubles also a fantastic silvers pool. In fact its a case of enjoying a bit of everything on the Mickey. The secret is the fresh water springs feeding the water with lots of oxygen. The pool hardly freezes in the winter too because of the springs.
If you’re looking for a mixed bag, with nature and relaxation the Mickey Mouse is for you.
The great news is that its a day ticket water, so any one who’s seen the Drennan final in recent years can actually have a go in the same pegs that are used for the final.
The Mickey has never lost any Carp last winter, contra to rumour. Its fishing as well if not better than ever. So why not come and give it a go?….
A lovely pool that is the favourite of the residents for it’s mixed stock of fish. Forty pegs each with it’s own character. A comfortable day’s fishing, you’ll never know what the next bite brings! . . And you’ll get plenty of them! The carp are into double figures but the gudgeon aren’t!
This possible the oldest commercial pool in the country, dating back to 1972. Originally it was a duck pond with some old trees growing out of the middle. That now has become a true angling feature

The Day Ticket
This is one of the most consistent lake on the complex with crucians, chub, carp and barbel in most pegs.
The stumps are a good area to try for chub with a maggot feeder or waggler approach but the pole will work on most pegs.

Worm and caster will be the most consistent approach on the pole and feeding small amounts through a kinder pot is the best way to go about putting a weight together.
Carp will turn up in the swim at some point so there is no need to fish too light.
Diameter .16mm direct to a size 16 and a number 10-12 elastic is about right.
You can catch roach and chub shallow on caster on the waggler or pole with the odd skimmer too but for carp try corn and meat in the margins or worm and caster on the long pole.
The near end of the pool in the bowl is where most the carp and crucians can be caught but the lilies hold a few tench and barbel.

The only downside is that there wasn't ice-cream in the restaurant ;) but not a deal breaker 😉.Posted on Brian HynesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have visited Docklow Pools many times and it is always brilliant. Due to go again on 20th June for a week. Although I booked a ticket on Major Bill pool unfortunately I was unable to do any fishing on my last trip. Enduring Stage 4 cancer for the past 5 years the trial drug Adagrasib is keeping me stable but not cured. Side effects are total exhaustion amongst various others. Sitting on a fishing chair has not been an option for me. I hope to give it a go in June. Looking on the bright side I am still here and the lads are looking forward to my cooking. Where do I start, what a place this is a fishermans heaven, the place is pristine and the lakes are extremely looked after with a massive range to fish for literally covers for everything you could go for. The venue has the most amazing, helpful staff you could ever meet a big shout out for o'darie (hope i spelt your name right) what an absolute merit she is to this company and an amazing host and also the other team members we talked to, they all make you feel welcome and willing to go the extra mile. And 5* to the chef the food was amazing good old fashioned homey food. Me and my brother will certainly be returning very soon thankyou all for giving us an amazing weekend of memories.Posted on eirlys jonesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
