Farmer Jack is many of our regulars favourite pool. Lots of features. Great margins. Parking. Holding carp to late doubles. Strong mixed bag too of Chub, Tench, Bream, Ide, Roach, Rudd, and good head of Tench.
Named after Farmer Jack Nosworthy who was a wonderful friend of the family, right from the start in 1972. Its two pools into one to give a 45 peg option. This super lake is a favourite for members of Docklow and residents. (Its not day ticket).
A pool of character solid with fish! Has usual head of carp, and also plenty of chub, barbel, rudd, roach and ide.
Regular big weights. An “OPEN” match on here every Thursday week in, week out… 9am draw.

Carp to? – Doubles
On the ‘Jack’ itself there a lot of margin pegs which can all throw up good weights.
Some pegs have lilies at 12 metres and these are good holding areas for chub and carp.
Chopped worm and caster to the lilies is a good approach but don’t strike away from the lilies at bites. This will cause the fish to dive into the pads. You need to strike into the pads to ensure the fish swim the other way.
Carp bream and chub will come up in the water so it is a case of presenting a bait where they want it rather than trying to force them down to the bottom to feed.
Most of the pegs have the potential to produce carp weights from the margins but loose feed caster and fish at half depth to avoid foul hooking carp. Chub and barble are also worth fishing for down the edge as you can build a good weight of them before the carp turn up.
The other lake; Bridge pool is more difficult to sort out and it is worth casting a lead with hair rigged meat to the island on most of the pegs here. The same tactics as the match lake work on this pool and a good weigh would be in the region of 50lb from this pool.
A few pints of caster and a quarter of a kilo of worm would be enough for all these pegs on this lake. The bridge peg itself is a good one to draw but you need a 14.5 metre pole to get across there. Fish can be hard to get out but don’t ignore the margins again on this peg.
Corn and meat are good baits but worm and caster would be more productive as they tend to attract the smaller fish like roach, chub and bream into the peg.

Service was brilliant 👏 kPosted on Christian WolstencroftTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Stayed in one of the fisher-cabins. The owner of the complex, Jonathan, i found to be ever willing to help and assist with any queries or requests directly, taking ownership and ensuring all your needs were catered for. Also the staff were friendly and supportive and very approachable. The cabin itself was extremely clean and well presented. The décor is a little dated, but in keeping with the beautiful surroundings Docklow Pools presents. The cabin was lovely and a home from home. Just a couple of niggles: 1. No internet. The complex is on a geographical dip. I could only find ONE BAR on the Three network. The main complex is serviced by a Starlink satellite internet service, but the area where my cabin was, like i say, of the four UK mobile networks, only Three had a service of just one bar. Jonathan was supportive.. he explained that a lot of their customers are men who want to go fishing on be 'off-grid' and 'not contactable'. While i understand that, in today's world one can always turn their phone off - and let their spouse/family know they will be doing this.. so i see no real reason for not supplying an internet connection to the cabins - it was a real pain in the rear for me as i had planned to do some work/study over my stay. Jonathan again kindly offered me an office in the main complex, but that just have worked as lugging all my paraphernalia there and back most days would be unrealistic. In the end i had to purchase (on the advise of someone Jonathan put me in touch with) a router which takes a sim card with screw on antennas. I then had to take out an unlimited data sim contract with Three. Just annoying to have to do in this day and age. 2. Freeview only There was an old Skybox, but the card wasn't recognised and you could only access the free channels. In the end i had to run a HDMI from my laptop, which was connected to the router, to access other channels. Highly recommend Docklow Pools.. great staff, location, accommodation and food... just behind on technology..Posted on Anthony WhitehornTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great pub on site with equally great food. The fishing isn't too bad either. Major bill is the speci lake with fish up to upper 30s and maybe a 40 swimming around. Few other lakes for the pleasure angler. Never really have a bad day's fishing, if there is such a thing.Posted on Clare BrownTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
