Dear Jonathan and all the crew at Docklow

Just a line to say thank you for a fantastic New Years Eve Party and for your hospitality on our two night stay with you.

We were most impressed with your food and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of our room (room 2), although we did have to share our room with the huge wasp who decided that I was in his bed! Anyway the wasp was the one with the headache in the morning, not me!

Thanks again to all your family for the welcome.

We hope we can visit Docklow again later in the year.

Kind regards,

Steve and Debbie G

Hi Jonathan,

I've attached a selction of the photographs Sue and I took of the 14 barbel we caught on the Docklow stretch ot the river Wye last week. The fish range from 5lb 6oz (first photo) to 8lb 6oz (last photo) with both a 7lb fish and a cracking 7lb 10oz fish that Sue caught! The pools were great too - but for some reason we forgot to photograph the carp we caught. We had a brilliant holiday and we'll be back next year!

Cheers mate, Keith (1st to Docklow)

As we commute along the highway of life we meet many fellow travellers and make many stops along the way, most of these meetings and pauses in our journey have little affect on the overall quality of our trip through life but every now and then we meet a person or find a place that is so special in its own right that we take the impression left by the encounter  with us for the rest  of our journey. Docklow Pools is such a place, this oasis of good manners, good company and good service together with fantastic sport reinforces everything that is right in England's green and pleasant land.
The years of dedication and hard work that have contributed to make Docklow Pools such a refreshing escape from the every day norm,. is more than a credit to the family Bozward and the staff who maintain the high standard of customer care with a quiet touch of empathy, it was our privilege to be your to be your guests during our recent stay and we look forward to joining many times more in the future
Very Best Regards

Phil & Louise P - Chester - 22nd August 2011

Dear Jonathon

Thank you and all the people at docklow pools for a wonderful holiday , we have experienced our best times at docklow pools and the fishermans arms, but last weeks experience was without  doubt the best .

From the moment we arrived to the moment we had to leave, the hospitality and the warmth we felt was out standing.

So once again thank you to all at Docklow including the residents of that week who shared that week with us.

P;S i have attached a photo of louise,s best catch of the week

Mark & Ian B - Chester - August 2011
Hello Jonathan, Hope you are keeping well.
Since our visit in May and subsequent membership Ian and I have been down to Docklow once a month as predicted and enjoyed some really good sport on Mickey and the Jack in June and July respectively.
We were down again yesterday and decided to fish the Moby, not so much to do with this email as I've only opened it today but more to do with our love of roach fishing!
Anyway to cut a long story short we both had a fantastic days sport, Ian managed at least 20 carp including a 2lb crucian and while obviously smaller than we had previously caught at an average of 1-2lb they proved great fun.
Meanwhile I managed a dozen carp of the same stamp but the lure of the roach was just too much. After spenting a couple of hours watching them attacking my loose fed casters like a shoal of pharanas I could not resist the temptation to have a go on a shallow rig up in the water. The outcome was around 25lb of roach with some going to 12oz. It probably could have been more but it took me a while to realise that the bigger stamp wanted it really shallow at 4-6 inches deep!
Anyway if anyone needs proof of the quality of the fishing on the Moby point them in our direction! There was also a number of other people fishing the pool while we were there and everyone caught carp .

"Pete & Lori - Our favourite little getaway"

We stumbled across Docklow by accident & it is the best find we ever made and have been to Docklow Pools several times now and for us it just gets better.
We don't do set weeks and have met lots of different people who have all been nice and friendly. We find most people quite willing to share fishing techniques and offer advice on how to fish the various lakes. Pete entered a residents match for the first time on our last visit and thoroughly enjoyed himself, he didn't even come last which pleased him no-end.
Go to the Fishermans Arms where there is a great atmosphere as everybody chills over a couple of pints after a hard days fishing. And if you don't fancy cooking you don't have to as the bar and restaurant meals are superb and extremely good value.
The accommodation, which is always ready on arrival, is well presented, clean and very comfortable.
The people who work there are great, barmaids, waitresses, cleaners, tackle shop, office, everybody tries to make you welcome. I love Ellis who often sits quietly with me whilst Pete gets down to "serious" fishing and I read.
The other people who make this possible are Josie, Mike, Jonathan & Simon who run the "Good Ship Docklow Pools" with seamless efficiency, warmth and love.
Looking forward to our next visit which is imminent
Lori & Pete

Hi Jonathan
Just a note to say thanks very much for yet again a great holiday. I also wanted to say a special thanks for helping to sort out our split tyre it took away a lot of stress from Terry and allowed us to get on with the important task of Fishing!
The fishing was great for both of us, however I did beat Terry (as usual), both in numbers of fish caught and the biggest in weight.
Good luck to you and Hannah for your wedding in November.
See you all again next year.
best wishes from
Terry and Sandy

Hi all,
Thanks for an amazing week. Fishing was super fun. Place is absolutely beautiful. So gorgeous and quiet. Was watching the buzzards and fell in love with all the nature. Food was just too nice that had to eat in the bar every night near enough. Jonathans quiz was so funny too, and made a lot of good friends that evening. Entertainment is really good considering its away from city life. Love Docklow and cant wait to come back!

13th July 2011 - Docklow Heaven
Dear Jonathan, sorry I didn't get to see you before we left but thought I would drop you a quick note, whilst the memories are still fresh, to say many thanks for another fantastic week of fishing. We had good sessions every day and ended the week with 8 doubles which is probably the best fishing I have ever had ! Some of the doubles we caught in the match lake were fin perfect; have you ever thought of moving a few of them to the Specimen lake to enable them to grow to 20lb plus. We had a decent session on the specimen lake with an 8lb common, 15lb mirror and a 15lb grass carp but unfortunately no cats - maybe next year

Can I book for next year? Regards Steve

We’ve just spent our first weekend at Docklow Pools and we had a brilliant time can’t wait to get back.

The pitch was perfect, the tackle shop was as good as any I have been to, the beer and food were first class and the fishing was superb.

Hope to get back in a couple of weeks for another weekend.

Wagg Free Week - June 2010

Hi Jonathan

Just a quick message to thank you and all your staff at Docklow for a fantastic week’s holiday last week. All the lads, (and pip!), had a great time, caught loads of fish, and thoughouly enjoyed themselves, especially in the bar!!

You have a superb fishery, down there, and should be very proud of what you have achieved, we were all looking at the photo’s of the original site in 1972 and it is obvious that lots of hard work has gone into the complex, to create the present fishery, and surroundings.

Once again many thanks, and I will no doubt be in touch soon to arrange our next “Wagg free week”

Regards Martin, Wethby

7th June 2010

Hi Jonathan,

Just a quick note to say sorry we did not get to say goodbye yesterday, we did look for you but your brother said you had popped out. We wanted to say thank you very much for making our stay at Docklow so much fun and thanks once again for letting us stay at The Spinney for the extra night. We left about 11.30 and got home in about three and a half hours so it was not too bad in the end. Today we are back to work but wishing we were still away, it will take us a while to get back in to the rat race but it was always inevitable I guess.

We left that bottle of champagne in the fridge in The Spinney so please take it as a small thank you from us.

You will see us again one day and please thank everyone else on the team for making our time so much fun.

All the best

Dan & Kelly-May - London

Jonathan
Just a quick thank you for the hospitality from your family and staff at docklows on our fishing holiday a couple of weeks back.
We had a really enjoyable week. Catching plenty of fish and sampling some good food in a very relaxed friendly enviroment and atmopshere.
We also met some nice fellow anglers quite willing to share adivse and tactics (unlike some of our other fishing trips). We hope to see you again in the future and would highly recommend your fishing compelx to other anglers.

Thank you
Graham and Mick (Leeds)

P.S. Could you please higher the hanging baskets outside the cottage, we kept headbutting them coming back from the pub.

Cheers
Surrey Grass Society
Dear Jonathon
Just to say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed our lunch with the log fire helping to make a very welcoming venue. Thanks also to Graham and the staff.

Also thanks for your help in making the arrangements

Kind regards

Tim

Hi Jonathan,

Just to say thank you so much to you all at Docklow Pools for making my husbands stay an enjoyable one. He absolutely loved it. Since I begun to deal with you at initial booking stage, your commitment to providing excellent customer service was apparent and this was backed up by my husband on his return from his holiday. We have both been mightily impressed!

I am sure we'll be dealing with you again in the future.

Thanks again! Sally C, Huddesfield
