Mr Robert Bufton - Major Carp Fish Champion 2009

Joining Docklow Pools as a member couldnt be easier, and entitles you to so much more than Day ticket fishing!

For example as a member you will be able to fish all non-specimen pools** free of charge as many times as you like throughout the year.

The Major Bill pool is a seperate membership to the normal membership, and presently has a waiting list understandly for it. If youre interested in a weekly ticket (Monday to Friday only) or getting onto the waiting list for the Major Bill specimen lake either call 01568760544 or email info@docklowtackle.co.uk. Normal membership is with Jonathan on docklowpools@hotmail.com Tel 01568760256.

PLUS we offer to our members the opportunity to buy a ticket which covers the private stretches of the River Teme and Wye. This in itself can save you pounds on day tickets, because lets face it, once you have fished here at Docklow Pools, you will want to return again and again!

Throughout the year we offer a members match every second saturday of the month. The friendship amongst the members, is second to none. They really enjoy themselves. At the Annual Dinner Dance in December trophies are presented to winners and the odd blanker!

Being a member also entitles you to discounted caravanning on our touring pitches. This also entitles you to discounted Winter rates within our residential complex. So you can visit us and fish all year round! See Caravan page on the site.

Also being a member entitles you to participate in our social evenings, New Years eve, Halloween, November 5th parties just to name a few. We must not forget to mention our Christmas Ball which is always the 1st saturday of December.

Additionally we offer consessions to certain specific populations to encourage all ages to fish. We have membership under the headings of "Husband and Wife", "Father and Son", "Grandson and Grandad".

The longer one stays in the membership too, the cheaper it becomes. Ask for details.

Membership is a great present.

There are a number of amendments and refreshers for 2010

  • VAT & Prices – Although VAT has returned to 17.5% from 1st January, we’ve kept our net price the same as last few years. Gross price has increased to cover VAT, but there is no inflationary increase for our members in 2010.
  • Membership renewal: - Is available, on line, by telephone or in the office at Docklow.
    • Membership is run from the office by Jonathan (docklowpools@hotmail.com & Tel: 01568760256).
    • Kate and Simon run Major Bill syndicate 01568760 544 for new members, all renewals are with Jonathan.
    • Must be paid by 28th February unless paying when holidaying in the year, which then can be done upon arrival.
    • Credit card payments subject to £1.50 charge.
  • Early renewal or Christmas presents - New syndicate books available to purchase and collect on the 12th December after the Fur & Feather match or at 8.30am at the Tackle Match end of December, with Jonathan
  • Tackle Match - will be the 1st ever held on the New Stock Pool (29th December). Everyone wins a piece of fishing tackle, winner has first pick. Come and enjoy the fun no matter your standard.
  • Knock ups - :
    • Snake every Saturday in the summer
    • Resident matches for those people staying in cottages, B&B or lodges
    • Thursday “Open” Match - Farmer Jack pool.
  • Syndicate Matches – Every 2nd Saturday of the month. Originally when the membership was set up all members turned out regularly. We want to go back to the old days and encourage all members no matter how good or bad to take part. We’re not a match fishery per say, but are proud of the grass roots of the Docklow membership. We’d welcome sensible ideas to encourage new faces. The Membership matches will always continue with a breakfast break keeping up tradition and spirit of Docklow.
  • Stock Pond – We made an incredible amount of improvements to the Stock pool which we’re sure you’ll be impressed with. The top end has been dredged to remove thirty years of debris and twigs, the over hanging trees and branches making it look extremely refreshed and get some well earnt sun light in to lighten it up too. In addition it’s been restocked at big expense. The purpose of all this cost and outlay is that the Stock Pool was hardly fished and becoming a hazard to some anglers. We’ve decided to retain its beauty, yet open it up so that it can be used for any knock ups we want to run over the year. It’s looking great already!
    • Landing net on every fish without exception.
    • Float fishing only still applies.
  • Major Bill – Our Specimen Lake is a separate syndicate from 2010 onwards.
    • Major bill members can fish all lakes should they choose; yet normal syndicate members are not permitted to fish the Major Bill.
    • Any members of the “Bill” wishing to fish more than four days at a time, kindly book with the shop before arrival to avoid disappointment.
    • The majority of the pegs have been improved over the winter. Looks excellent.
  • Paths and roadways – An enormous amount of work has been put in by the lads to spruce up the accessibility of all the lakes. You’ll notice new paths and landscaping around the farm. It’s shown at is best when the Head to Head final was here again in October. Something as a member to be proud of.
  • Snake - Tinned Hemp (home boiled not allowed) can be used from October 1st to April the 1st on the Snake only. The stretch is looking glorious now it’s re-established after last years work. Regular knock ups each Saturday from 9ish in the summer months.
  • Silver Fish Match – Sponsored by Preston’s in March over two days. £1000 1st prize! Details from the tackle shop.
  • £10 retainer – This is a continued option for anglers who don’t to lose all their years built up in the members because they wont be joining in 2010. If one does decide to fish then day ticket prices will apply. The retainer does not apply for the Major Bill. If you drop out, one has to start again, if you can get back in.
  • River Wye & Teme – We’ve decided to improve the River offering and charge just £10 + VAT for the year, instead of £5 per visit.
    • Members are asked to continue to inform the Tackle Shop if and when you intend fishing the river stretches, to avoid disappointment.
  • Email – we are looking to build a data base so we can send news from Docklow and the Shop. If you have an email please share it with us
  • Dinner Dance – Still regarded as one of the best nights of the year. We’re taking names and bookings for individuals and parties for the 4th December 2010 already.
  • New and refreshed Rules for 2010
    • Spectators – Partners allowed free of charge. Other spectators £5 per person
    • No night fishing – All anglers to pack up an hour before dark without exception.
    • Major Bill members
      • No coming and going after dark. A rises suspicion. No exceptions
      • Landing nets – Must be used on all fish over 4oz. No exceptions.
      • Major Bill anglers must use a minimum 42” landing net without exception
      • Unhooking mats – Must be large enough to deal with big Cat fish, and preferably of the poly ball variety.

Major Bill membership covers you for a maximum of 3 rods total. 4th rods will be charged at £20 a day.
